![]() The copy I own, was published in a collection of Bachs cello suites transcriptions by Bream, which goes by the catalog number F0309. ![]() I have also studied the Lorimers transcription, which I found easier to play, IMHO. Such a sensible and at the same time practical man, this Bream gentleman. If youre looking for Bach scores, the Werner Icking Music Archive is a great resource: The Cello suites are BWV 1007 through 1012. I also suggest checking out the Sonatas and Partitas for Violin, which are BWV 1001 through 1006. I mean, some of it is fairly obvious, but Im just not sure about a few spots. You want me to try to dig it up and make you a copy I also have Stanley Yates, in C. The significant tones are B G and E, an E major triad, over the A bass. Theres a similar decoration - what a jazz player would call enclosure - at beginning of bar 24, where a chromatic Bb and G enclose an A, in an otherwise diatonic run with no harmonies, but strongly suggesting an A7 basis. Theres also that highly distinctive and dramatic chromatic run-up in bars 37-38, which is basically adding some more tension to an underlying dominant (A7) situation. That tension is beautifully sustained over the next 3 bars by the pedal A (typical Bach) under the chords, before final resolution to the D.
